Why I Love Wedding Photography
A Personal Note from Randy – Lead Photographer at Mandy & Randy Weddings
Hi, I’m Randy—the lead photographer behind every wedding we capture at Mandy & Randy Weddings. Based in Bromont and proudly serving couples across the Eastern Townships, Montreal, and throughout Quebec, I’ve had the honour of documenting hundreds of love stories over the years.
People often ask me, "Why wedding photography?" The truth is, this work goes far beyond just taking pictures. It’s about connection, emotion, trust, and preserving one of the most meaningful days in a couple’s life. Every time I pick up my camera, I feel grateful to be invited into such an intimate and powerful moment in someone’s story.
The Joy of Documenting Authentic Moments
Weddings are a whirlwind of emotions—joy, anticipation, love, and sometimes even a few tears. Being entrusted to capture these genuine moments is both an honor and a responsibility I cherish. From the subtle glances between partners to the exuberant celebrations with family and friends, every snapshot tells a part of the couple's unique story.
Embracing the Challenges of Wedding Photography
Wedding photography is not without its challenges. Whether it's adapting to varying lighting conditions in historic Montreal churches or capturing spontaneous moments during outdoor ceremonies in the Eastern Townships, each scenario demands creativity and adaptability. These challenges fuel my passion and drive me to deliver exceptional results for every couple.
Building Genuine Connections with Couples
Beyond the technical aspects, what truly sets wedding photography apart for me is the opportunity to build real, meaningful relationships with the couples I work with. Taking the time to understand their journey, personalities, and vision allows me to tailor my approach so that their photos feel true to who they are—not just beautiful, but deeply personal.
But it’s more than just the work—it’s the people. Hearing their vows, witnessing their families come together, and being there for such an emotional and pivotal day has shaped me in ways I didn’t expect. The stories I get to be a part of have made me a better husband, a better father, and a more present person overall. Seeing love expressed in so many different ways has taught me to show up more fully in my own relationships.
Some of these connections even turn into lasting friendships, and I count that as one of the greatest privileges of doing what I do.
Preserving Memories for Generations
Photographs serve as timeless keepsakes (see some of my favorite photos), preserving the essence of a couple's special day for generations to come. Knowing that my work will be cherished by families, revisited during anniversaries, and shared with future generations reinforces the significance of what I do.
That truth hit even harder when Mandy and I had kids. We constantly find ourselves wanting to slow things down—to freeze the little moments that feel like they’re flying by. Which is why we started offering family photography as well.
It’s a reminder every day of how powerful a photograph can be. And it’s why I approach every wedding with that same perspective: to help couples hold on to the fleeting moments that matter most.
Serving Couples Across Quebec
While Montreal is the city we work in most often, Bromont is home, and Mandy and I are proud to serve couples throughout the Eastern Townships and across Quebec. Whether it’s a rustic barn wedding in the countryside or a downtown courthouse celebration, we’re committed to capturing the unique essence of each couple and every moment that matters.
If you’re currently looking for the right wedding photographer, I’d love to connect. Choosing someone to document your day is personal—it’s about more than just liking their photos. It’s about feeling comfortable and understood. So let’s hop on a video call, talk about your day, and see if we’re the right fit.
