By far one of the most common questions clients who are booking us for a wedding ask is, “my church is very dark, will you be able to take nice pictures”? It’s a valid concern, and that’s why we wanted to address this question here on our blog.
The truth is, we are not just professional photographers, we are professional wedding photographers. Meaning, we are prepared for just about any type of lighting situation. Whether the ceremony is outside on a dark and stormy day, or inside in a dimly lit church or venue, we know how to handle it.

If you look at the above photo you would assume it was taken in a very well lit church, but it was not. Despite the challenging lighting conditions on the wedding day, we were able to capture beautiful photos for the bride and groom. Here is how we did it for them and how we will do it for you.
We shoot with only the best camera bodies available. This image was captured on a Canon 5D III. It is a full frame camera and because of the larger camera sensor, it is able to take in more light than a crop-sensor camera. To learn more about our cameras, click here.
Equipped to our camera is the best glass on the market. We personally shoot with Canon L Series lenses. Not only do they let it more light, but they produce sharper and cleaner images. To learn more about our lenses, click here.

Last but not least is the editing process. Mandy & Randy Weddings have a distinctive editing style and we have a very particular way of processing our images that sets us apart from other wedding photographers. From exposure adjustments, to advanced noise reduction and colour manipulation, we bring images from even the darkest venues to life.
