A Rustic Wedding at Sucrerie de la Montagne in Rigaud, Quebec

In August 2026, we had the opportunity to photograph a beautiful rustic wedding at Sucrerie de la Montagne in Rigaud, Quebec. It was our first time photographing a wedding at this unique venue, and it didn’t take long for it to become one of our new favourite wedding locations.

Surrounded by mature maple trees and filled with historic wooden buildings, stone fireplaces and unmistakable Quebec character, Sucrerie de la Montagne offers something completely different from a traditional hotel or banquet-hall wedding. It feels warm, relaxed and authentic—an ideal setting for couples who want their wedding day to feel personal and connected to nature.

We loved the experience so much that we already have two more weddings booked at Sucrerie de la Montagne for the fall of 2026, and we cannot wait to return when the leaves begin to change.

A Rustic Wedding Venue Surrounded by Nature

Located on Mont Rigaud, Sucrerie de la Montagne is a 120-acre sugar bush surrounded by a forest of century-old maple trees. Recognized as a Quebec Heritage Site, the property feels like a small historic village tucked into the woods.

Every part of the venue offers texture and character for wedding photography. The weathered wood, stonework, winding paths and surrounding forest create a timeless backdrop without feeling overly staged or formal.

For this August wedding, the lush greenery and warm summer light perfectly complemented the rustic setting. The trees provided beautiful pockets of soft light for portraits, while the traditional buildings gave us plenty of variety throughout the day.

A Venue That Feels Warm and Authentic

One of our favourite things about photographing a wedding at Sucrerie de la Montagne was the atmosphere. The property has a genuine sense of history that cannot easily be recreated with decorations.

The reception spaces feature traditional wood interiors and authentic stone fireplaces, creating a warm and intimate environment for dinner, speeches and celebrations. The venue also offers several rustic menu options inspired by Quebec traditions, including maple-glazed chicken, roasted meats and classic sugar-shack dishes.

Rather than feeling polished in a way that could belong anywhere, this venue feels distinctly connected to Rigaud and to Quebec. That authenticity gives the entire wedding experience a strong sense of place.

Wedding Photography at Sucrerie de la Montagne

From a photography perspective, Sucrerie de la Montagne offers an incredible amount of variety within one property. Couples can take portraits beneath the maple trees, along the forest paths or inside the venue’s historic wooden buildings. The natural surroundings work beautifully for candid photographs, romantic portraits and larger wedding-party or family photos.

The rustic textures also pair especially well with the documentary approach we bring to a wedding day. Instead of pulling couples away from their guests for long periods, we can use the landscape and buildings already surrounding them to create meaningful portraits while keeping the day moving naturally. There is also something especially beautiful about the transition from daylight into evening at this venue. As the light fades and the reception spaces begin to glow, the property takes on an entirely different mood—warm, intimate and full of character.

A Beautiful Choice for a Rigaud Wedding

Sucrerie de la Montagne is an excellent option for couples searching for a:

Rustic wedding venue in Rigaud
Sugar-shack wedding near Montreal
Country wedding venue in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area
Quebec heritage wedding location
Fall wedding venue surrounded by maple trees
Wedding venue with on-site ceremony and accommodation options

Ceremonies can be held directly on the property, allowing couples and their guests to enjoy the entire wedding day in one location. The venue also offers traditional cottages in the woods for a small number of guests, with complimentary accommodation available for the newlyweds as part of its wedding offering.Keeping the ceremony, portraits and reception in one place can make the wedding day feel much more relaxed. It reduces travel time and gives everyone more time to enjoy the celebration.

We’re Excited to Photograph

More Weddings Here

After photographing our first Sucrerie de la Montagne wedding in August 2026, we immediately understood why couples are drawn to this location. It is rustic without feeling artificial, historic without feeling dated and surrounded by nature without being far removed from the Montreal area.

Most importantly, it gives couples the freedom to create a wedding that feels comfortable, welcoming and true to them.

Sucrerie de la Montagne has officially become one of our new favourite wedding venues. With two more weddings already booked here for fall 2026 and 2027, we are excited to experience and photograph the property during a completely different season.

If you are planning a wedding at Sucrerie de la Montagne—or anywhere in Rigaud, Hudson, Vaudreuil or the surrounding area—we would love to hear what you have planned.
