A Fun August Wedding Among the Apple Trees
On August 1, we returned to Verger Jude-Pomme in Oka, Quebec, for a wedding that was romantic, personal and completely true to the couple.
Surrounded by apple trees and open countryside, Jon and Therese celebrated with their closest family and friends at one of our favourite rustic wedding venues near Montreal. The atmosphere was relaxed from the beginning, with plenty of laughter, personal details and guests who were ready to have a genuinely good time.
As self-proclaimed nerds, Jon and Therese made sure their love of Star Trek had a special place in the day.
Rather than choosing a traditional ceremony setup, they incorporated that shared interest into their wedding with a custom Star Trek-inspired arch. It immediately made the ceremony feel like theirs and created one of the most memorable wedding backdrops we have photographed.
Then, just as they began exchanging their vows, the rain arrived. It only added to the moment, and since rain on your wedding day is supposed to bring good luck, Jon and Therese should have plenty of it.
The arch was creative without taking away from the emotion of the ceremony, and it perfectly reflected who they are as a couple: fun, unapologetically themselves and ready to boldly begin their next adventure together.

A Star Trek Wedding Ceremony in Oka
Personal details are often what make a wedding feel unforgettable.
For this couple, Star Trek was more than a decorative theme. It was something they genuinely loved together, and their ceremony arch became a fun way to include that part of their relationship in the day.
Against the natural backdrop of Verger Jude-Pomme, the arch created an unexpected contrast between rustic orchard scenery and science-fiction inspiration. It was original, playful and completely different from the ceremonies normally held beneath the apple trees.
The result was a wedding ceremony that felt meaningful without becoming overly formal.
It also proved that couples do not need to follow every traditional wedding rule. The best details are often the ones that would not make sense at anyone else’s wedding.

During an August wedding, the orchard is especially green and full, creating a beautiful natural setting for both candid photographs and more intentional couple portraits.
Some of the best photographs from this wedding came from allowing the couple to enjoy the property without forcing every moment. For a couple of hours Jon and Therese’s family played games in the orchard and it allowed us to take some really nice photos of the family all together in a natural way.
