GENERAL QUESTIONS

1

DO YOU DELIVER EVERY IMAGE YOU PHOTOGRAPH?

No, we deliver to our clients a finished product. What this means is that we eliminate duplicate images and test shots, as well as any pictures where there is a missed focus or perhaps a bad facial expression. The determination of images we deliver is at our discretion; however, rest assured, we deliver every photograph we take that you would want to keep.

We do this because we do not want to dilute the overall product.

2

DOES MANDY AND RANDY PRODUCE WEDDING VIDEOS?

Yes we do. To see an example of a recent wedding video we produced, click here.

3

DO YOU DO DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

Based out of Montreal, Mandy & Randy wedding photography primarily photograph weddings locally, as well as throughout the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. We are available however, for destination weddings to clients from all around the world. In 2018 we had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful wedding in Montego Bay, Jamaica!

If you would like to know more about our wedding packages, click here.

4

What if our ceremony is in a different language?

Being born and raised in Montreal, we speak both official languages here in Quebec (French and English).

If however, your wedding is taking place in a language we are not familiar with, we will put in the extra time and efforts to familiarize ourselves with the traditions and cultures of your wedding. All our packages include a sit down with couples prior to the wedding day to ensure we are aware of all the major moments taking place throughout the day. During the wedding day itself, while we may not understand the language, our years of experience have given us the ability to capture love in an infinite number of languages.

5

Do you provide partial day coverage?

Yes we do. Our wedding photography and videography packages start at 4 hours of coverage. To learn more about our packages, click here.

6

DO YOU SHOOT IN JPEG OR RAW? AND DO YOU PROVIDE CLIENTS WITH ALL THE FILES?

All of our photoshoots are photographed in RAW. The reason for this is that when we take a photo, it is not a finished product. We photograph with the completed (post-produced/edited) product in mind. For this reason, we do not provide clients with RAW files because we believe in delivering a finished product.

After every photoshoot clients are given a link to download the edited full resolution JPEGs.

Albums are delivered 8-12 weeks later.

7

Do you photograph things other than weddings (VIDEO PRODUCTION, headshots, product photography, etc?)

Yes, we do! We have extensive experience in many fields of photography and video. To learn more, feel free to contact us or visit our sister site.

STYLE AND QUALITY QUESTIONS

8

What is your photography style

Our wedding and engagement photography style takes on a photojournalistic approach. We want our imagery to feel natural and authentic. We are however, heavily influenced by fine-art and fashion photography, which is why our style is so unique and sought after. We understand light and shadow, posing and how to make clients feel comfortable and authentic in front of the camera.

We also photograph events, concerts, sports and landscapes. Being able to work outside of the field of weddings has allowed us to sharpen our creative skillsets even further. To see this work, click here.

9

Can I see the photos for a full event from start to finish?

Of course you can. We take great pride in the consistency of our work and while other photographers only feel comfortable showing you the best photos from a wedding, we want you to make an informed decision. Therefore, if you would like to see photos from a full event, we can provide you with a private link to those images.

10

My church is beautiful, but it is very dark. Can you handle that? And can I see a sample image?

Photography and darkness do not really go well together and many churches do not allow for flash photography during the wedding vows. For this reason we photograph with not only the best low light camera gear and lenses available, but through years of experience we have learned how to get the best out of every lighting situation.

POST PRODUCTION QUESTIONS

11

Do you edit all the photos from my wedding or photoshoot?

Unlike most studios who will select only a few images for post production, we retouch every image we deliver to our clients. We do this so that it meets not only our standards, but so each image accurately represents our brand and signature style. These retouches include but are not limited too: colour correction, exposure adjustment, blemish removal and the application of our signature filmic look processing.

For an additional fee, we also offer advanced retouching. This process encompasses any post production that requires advanced photoshop work. Please contact us to know more about or advanced retouching services.

12

CAN WE SAVE MONEY BY NOT EDITING OUR PHOTOS?

Unfortunately no. The editing process is part of delivering a finished product. When we shoot your wedding, the RAW images straight out of camera are like the ingredients of a recipe. Everything you need is right there to make something wonderful, but it needs to be put together in order to bring your creation to life.

It is for this reason that we also never provide clients with RAW files. You might be a skilled photographer and retoucher in your own right; however, when you hire Mandy & Randy, you are hiring us for our artistic vision and our ability to deliver a finished product.

WEDDING DAY QUESTIONS

13

How many hours of coverage do we need on our wedding day?

This is an incredibly personal decision and it varies from couple to couple. However, the general rule of thumb is if you want photos from the bridal and groom preperation, all the way through to the dancing and partying, 9-12 hours of wedding day coverage should be scheduled with your photographer.

We do however, offer packages starting at 4 hours of coverage. This is ideal for couples simply looking for ceremony and formal photos.

For more wedding package information, click here.

14

I have some downtime between events on my wedding day. Will I be charged for the moments you’re not ACTIVELY TAKING PHOTOS?

For the photographer, there really is no downtime on a wedding day. If we are not taking photos for you, we are preparing for the next moment. Therefore, for a variety of reasons, we have to charge for the entire time we are present. Your wedding day coverage begins at the scheduled time agreed upon.

15

What happens if on the wedding day we go over the contracted amount of time and want you to stay?

Not a problem. We have nothing else to do on your wedding day except work with you. So the last thing you should be stressed about is time.

30 minutes before we are scheduled to finish we will come and see you. If there is a moment missing (cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc), we will ask you if you would like to do that right now, or have us stay. If you wish for us to stay, we will charge the rates specified in your contract.

16

Do you require a meal on the wedding day? And if so, when do you eat?

If your wedding package has us with you for 7 hours or more, we require a meal at the wedding.

Nobody wants photos of people eating. Therefore, when your guests sit down to eat, we do too. We typically eat with the DJ or in the employee service area. However, we are not glued to our chair. We sit down for a few moments and then get right back to taking photos.

Please note that we do not consume any alcohol on the day of wedding.

ENGAGEMENT SESSION QUESTIONS

17

DO WE NEED AN ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER?

There are many reasons why we believe it is important to get engagement photos done once you and your partner make it official. If you would like to read our more in depth blog post on the subject, click here.

In short however, an engagement session serves multiple purposes.

  • They allow you to connect with your wedding photographer.

  • The photos can serve as the image you use for your wedding invitation.

  • They are a wonderful way to document this time in your life.

  • We include the engagement session for free or with a discount depending on the wedding package you book.

18

When should we BOOK our engagement photo session?

Couples typically book us as their wedding photographer 6-12 months before their wedding. Some like to have an engagement photoshoot done immediately, while others like to wait closer to the wedding date.

We recommend for you to do your engagement session at least 10-12 weeks prior to the wedding date. This allowing you plenty of time to show off your engagement photos to your family and friends before your big day.

19

How long does it take before we receive our engagement photos?

Just like our wedding packages, photos are edited and returned to our clients within 7 business days. This includes the download of the full resolution JPEGs.

For an album, printing times can vary; however, orders will generally be completed within 8-12 weeks.

AFTER CARE QUESTIONS

20

What rights do I have to the digital FILES?

Once your images are returned to you, you are free to print them, share them with family and friends, or upload them online. You may not sell your images for profit, make edits of any kind, or publish them without crediting Mandy & Randy.

21

How many PHOTOS do you deliver FROM OUR WEDDING DAY?

Each wedding day is different and there are many variables that can determine the number of photos we capture and deliver. Eg. The number of photographers hired, the number of hours of coverage, the length of time allocated to the formal portrait session, the number of guests, and the amount of activity going on throughout the day and evening.

Our focus is on quality over quantity, and it is for this reason that we do not guarantee a specific number of images. That being said, we capture every moment from your day accurately and beautifully.

For those looking for additional photos, we do offer the possibility to book a second shooter for your wedding day. To know more, please check out our wedding packages.

22

What if I lose or misplace my images?

Taking care of our clients after their wedding day is very important to us. We value our professional relationships and hope to work with you and your family for years to come. For this reason, we take care to back up your images and offer a $100 replacement charge if you ever lose your photos.

Why the $100 charge? We store your images on multiple hard drives and back them up for years to come. We hope you never need your images replaced, but if you do we are here for you.
