The Singh Family Portraits in Knowlton | Natural Photography in the Eastern Townships
There’s something special about the Eastern Townships. Rolling hills, winding country roads, and that quiet stillness you don’t get in the city. We recently spent an afternoon photographing the Singh family near Knowlton, and it reminded us why we love this region so much.
The Eastern Townships have long been a haven for families—whether they live here full-time or escape from the city on weekends. Towns like Sutton, Magog, North Hatley, and even Sherbrooke are filled with people who’ve chosen nature, space, and a slower pace of life. And it shows in the way they show up for sessions like these: fully present, no rush, just enjoying the moment.
Unscripted Moments in a Place That Feels Like Home
The Signh family session was pure ease (it helped that they used our family photoshoot checklist). We wandered through a wooded trail just outside of Knowlton, stopping when something caught the kids’ attention—flowers, a bird overhead, a ball that needed kicking.
There was no pressure to pose or smile a certain way. We’re always after something more honest than that. These sessions are about movement, laughter, connection—the fleeting stuff you’ll miss when you blink.
The Townships give us the perfect canvas. Whether it’s sunset light glowing through the trees or kids running barefoot across a field, it all feels beautifully real out here.
Why We Love Photographing Families in the Eastern Townships
We live on the mountain in Bromont, and this region is our backyard. We photograph weddings and families all across Quebec, but the Eastern Townships always feel like coming home.
There’s a growing community of Anglophone families here—creative, outdoorsy, grounded—and many of them want to document this season of life without the pressure of a big production. That’s where we come in. These sessions are laid back, intimate, and designed to capture your family as you really are.
From North Hatley to Magog, Sutton to Knowlton—we know these towns and backroads well, and we love finding hidden gems for our shoots.
Our absolute favorite time for family sessions is late summer into fall, when the light is golden, the air is crisp, and apple orchards across the Townships come alive. Apple picking season makes for the most magical, candid photos—kids running through the rows, arms full of apples, parents soaking it all in. It's the perfect setting to freeze those real, joyful moments before the season slips away.
